Decision guide
Find the right support
Four short questions. At the end, we suggest which of our three services could fit what you want, and explain why. It takes about a minute.

Four questions
What do you want from your week?
Choose the answer that sounds most like you. If you are answering for someone else, answer as they would.
Support that could fit
Next steps
This is a starting point, not advice. It does not tell you whether you are eligible for a support or whether your plan will fund it. The NDIA decides what is funded. We are happy to talk it through with you.

The three services
What each one is for
Supported Independent Living
Help with daily life in a shared or single home, rostered around your plan and the people you live with.
Good fit for people who want to live away from family with support on hand every day.
Funding: Usually funded as SIL in the Core supports part of an NDIS plan. SIL pays for support, never for rent, food or bills. The NDIA decides what a plan includes.
In-home support
Personal care, household tasks and building skills, in the home you already have, at the times that suit you.
Good fit for people living on their own or with family who want the same familiar workers.
Funding: Usually funded from Core supports (Assistance with Daily Life), and sometimes Capacity Building for skills. The NDIA decides what a plan includes.
Community participation
Getting out to the things you love, one to one or in a small group, and building the confidence to do more of them.
Good fit for people with goals about friends, work, study or getting around.
Funding: Usually funded from Core supports (Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation), or Capacity Building. The NDIA decides what a plan includes.

Questions
About this guide
Will this tell me if I am eligible for the NDIS or for a support?
No. The guide only points you to services that might fit what you want. The NDIA decides eligibility and what is funded in a plan.
Can I use more than one service?
Yes. Many people combine them, for example in-home support during the week and community participation on weekends.
Are my answers saved or sent to you?
No. Your answers stay in your browser and are cleared when you leave the page. Nothing is sent to us unless you choose to get in touch.
What if none of these fit?
Tell us what you are looking for anyway. If we cannot help, we will say so plainly and, where we can, suggest where to look.
Not sure yet? Let’s work it out together.
Tell us a little about you or the person you support. We reply promptly, and there is no cost or commitment to talk.
