SIL vacancies

Homes where we can offer Supported Independent Living support, listed only once every detail is checked.

Two words to know

SIL and SDA are different things

SIL is support

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is daily help from workers in a shared or single home. It never pays for rent, food or bills.

SDA is housing

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is funding for specially designed homes. It is a separate agreement from your support.

Hear when a home fits

Tell us what you are looking for

Tell us where you would like to live and a little about the support you need. When a home opens that may fit, we will get in touch.

Joining the list does not commit you to anything, and you can ask to come off it at any time.

For example, a region, or two or three suburbs close to family or work.

SDA is funding for specially designed housing. Many SIL homes are SDA homes, but not all.

For example, overnight support, or a home without stairs. Please leave out medical detail.

Only if you would like a call as well as an email.

Questions

Questions about SIL vacancies

Does a SIL vacancy mean you are offering me a home?

Not on its own. Supported Independent Living (SIL) is support, not housing. A vacancy means there is a place in a home where we can offer SIL support. The housing is a separate agreement with whoever provides the home, and SIL never pays for rent, food or bills.

Do I need SDA funding to live in one of these homes?

It depends on the home. Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is funding for specially designed housing, and only some SIL homes are SDA homes. If a home is an enrolled SDA home, its listing says so. The NDIA decides whether a plan includes SDA or SIL, not us.

What if I move into a home and want to change SIL provider later?

You can. Housing and support are separate agreements, so changing your SIL provider does not mean losing your home.

How do I find out when a home might fit?

Tell us where you would like to live using the form on this page. When a home opens that may fit, we will get in touch. Joining the list does not commit you to anything.
